In conjunction with designers
and engineers from Draper Aden Associates, Branch
Highways, Inc. completed this 60-acre facility well
ahead of the City of Lynchburg's required date. Built on
the site of the existing 20-acre plant, it was necessary
to close and cap the old site before building the new
one. We moved over 800,000 cubic yards of dirt and
installed 1 million square feet of HDPE synthetic lining
with an impervious clay liner. Add to that a leachate
collection system, a yard waste and mulch processing
plant, a gas detection and collection system, and
equipment and maintenance buildings...a total package
completed quickly and efficiently.
What follows are excerpts from a letter to Branch
Highways, Inc. from Mr. Bill Gillespie, city engineer
and assistant director of public works for the city of
Lynchburg, Virginia.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to express my
appreciation for the fine job that Branch Highways
did on the City's new Waste Management Facility. The
professionalism and timely manner in which it was
executed says a great deal for the organization of
your company and, in particular, the staff which
directed the construction project."
"I am a firm believer that credit should be given
where credit is due ... made my life a lot simpler
... professionalism, timeliness, and quite frankly,
just plain common sense took care of a lot of
problems. You are to be commended for your efforts
on this project and if I can be of any service as a
future reference, please do not hesitate to let me
know."
