| This was the first
phase of projects along the river for the Roanoke River
Basin Flood Reduction Program. The project consisted of
clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control
along with the excavation and disposal of surplus
material required to establish bench areas along the
Roanoke River. This work also included removal of
contaminated soils, demolition of several structures,
storage tanks and buildings and the construction of an
extension to a walking trail along the river.
Branch Highways was presented a
Certificate of Recognition by Roanoke City
for the outstanding job of environmental protection
through the effective use of erosion and sediment
control measures.
